Uma estratégia extremamente interessante das plantas sobre os inselbergs é a tolerância a dessecação. Durante a estação seca, certas espécies entram em estado desidratado e ficam com aspecto de mortas. As folhas ficam enegrecidas e enroladas e chegam a perder até 90% da água de seus tecidos. Logo algumas horas depois da chuva, elas se reidratam e ficam verdes novamente, sem complicações estruturais e/ou fisiológicas. A very interesting strategy of some inselberg plants is the desiccation tolerance. During the dry season, some species go into the dehydrated state and become with dead appearance. The blackish and rolled leaves lose upto 90% of their water content. After the rain, they hydrated again and become green without structural and physiological damage. Because of that the are called "Resurrection Plants".
